PRODEC® 316P/316LP Plate - AMS 5524, 5507


PRODEC® 316/316L are improved versions of standard Type 316/316L.  The steel is processed with advanced ladle metallurgy techniques for improved machinability and outstanding uniformity. These materials offer faster machining speeds, longer tool life, improved part quality, and lower total cost of machined parts.  They also provide improved resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in environments containing chlorides and other halides.

Mechanical Properties of 316P / 316LP

Hardening - PRODEC® 316P/316LP cannot be hardened by heat treatment. However, PRODEC® 316P/316LP can be hardened by cold working.

Annealing - PRODEC® 316P/316LP should be heated to 1900°F minimum, then water quenched or rapidly cooled by other means.
