Spotlight on Graduating Seniors

UPM’s controller, Pumma Carvalho had two seniors in her household we would like to feature.  First, we celebrate the high school graduation of her youngest daughter.  Alyssa Carvalho recently graduated from William Mason High School where she not only excelled in academics, but also enjoyed participating in social events, fundraising committees and organizing school dances.  Alyssa spent her free time developing her talents in both the violin and piano.  She also enjoyed volunteering for Bethesda North Hospital.  It was there that she found her passion for the medical field. Now, Alyssa has exciting plans to attend the University of Akron and Northeast Ohio Medical University’s 6-year Dual Medical Program.  We wish her the best of luck in her academic pursuits and we look forward to celebrating her successes.  Keep us posted Alyssa!

Natalia Carvalho is the eldest in her household.  We were lucky enough to enjoy Natalia’s company as an intern for UPM.  Natalia also interned for Boeing in Seattle & St. Louis where she gained  insight into the aerospace industry.  Now she is celebrating her recent graduation from Duke University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a dual major in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science.  During her time at Duke, Natalia taught math and science activities to girls in elementary school and acted as a resident assistant. Natalia will remember Duke’s National Basketball Championship win as one of her fondest memories.  Her post-graduation plans will begin in no time as she heads to Seattle, Washington to begin a position at Amazon as a software engineer.

The Carvalhos have been blessed with two daughters whose interests and talents should take them to new and brighter places.
