United Performance Metals Supports Pediatric Cancer Research

It always feels good to give back.   It’s also great fun to proudly wear a Cincinnati Bengal’s football jersey and support our local team.  Following the efforts of a recent campaign led by a Bengal’s football player, United Performance Metals was able to accomplish both.

Leah Still, the 4-year-old daughter of Cincinnati Bengal’s defensive tackle, Devon Still, is fighting her own battle against a stage four cancer diagnosis.  The sale of Devon Still’s football jersey is raising both awareness and funds to support cancer research.   In fact, all proceeds from the sale of the jersey will support the Cincinnati Children’s’ Hospital pediatric cancer research efforts.

In a recent interview with ESPN.com, Still reiterated that he wanted to use this negative in his and his family's life, and turn it into a positive for others.

"One of the things we took into consideration before we made it public that my daughter had cancer was that my daughter's not fighting this for no reason," Still said. "That at least what we get out of this battle is that more people start to know about childhood cancer and more people decide to start helping with it so that families don't have to go through it by themselves."

Fundraising with a Purpose

United Performance Metals joined the fundraising and awareness efforts by purchasing several of Devon Still’s jerseys and offering them to employees through a silent auction.  $1,500 was contributed to the cause, and a few very happy employees will don their Still jersey at the next Bengal’s football game; giving back and feeling good!
