Alloy X Nickel Sheet, Coil, Bar & Plate - AMS 5536, 5754, UNS N06002

Hastelloy® X is a high temperature and corrosion resistant nickel-based solid solution strengthened alloy. This alloy has outstanding resistance to oxidation and possesses exceptional strength at elevated temperatures. Molybdenum enables this alloy to be hard, strong, and suitable for welding applications. Alloy X exhibits good formability and machinability.

Alloy X is non-magnetic. It has high strength up to 1500ºF (816ºC) and good oxidation resistance up to 2200ºF (1204ºC). This alloy is especially resistant to carburization and nitriding, conditions which cause failure in some high temperature alloys. It is used extensively in high temperature jet engine and chemical processing applications and is highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking in petrochemical applications.  Industrial furnace applications incorporate Alloy X for its resistance to oxidizing and its ability to maintain good ductility after prolonged exposure to extremely high temperatures.

Working with Alloy X nickel

Alloy X materials can be cold rolled to various tempers. It cannot be hardened through heat treating. It is easily fabricated.  Alloy X maintains excellent corrosion resistance. It is readily formed by cold-working.

Machining Alloy X nickel

Nickel alloys are stronger at metal cutting temperatures than other materials. Machining of nickel alloys such as Alloy X requires tooling that minimizes cutting forces with maximum edge strength. This alloy exhibits good ductility after prolonged temperatures up to 1600°.
